I wrote my personal mission statement when I was 21; updating it recently with the "fun" clause. It is simply:
"Help others while having fun."
I've been told many times that I am a "geek with people skills". That's an accurate description, but note that it still classifies me as a geek. Consequently, most of my projects revolve around technology to some degree - and leveraging that technology to help others.
I'm currently experimenting with open source technologies, attempting to generate significant amounts of after-tax profits (think: ultra-low overhead) and pass those dollars on to children's charities (e.g. Room to Read for international children's libraries and the Boys & Girls Club of America).
LOHAS-style marketing, connecting folks, brand-building, and using capitalism to fight extreme poverty around the world.

Fair Trade Sports is your source for premium quality sports balls that help at-risk children around the world. 100% of our after-tax profits go to children's charities.
We've blatantly copied the tried-and-true business model behind Newman's Own - a simple S-Corp that designates all pass-through profits to charity.
All our sports balls are certified to be stitched by adult workers paid fair wages and ensured healthy working conditions. We offer guilt-free soccer balls, rugby balls, volleyballs, and more.
Next time you need a sports ball, stop by for a visit! www.fairtradesports.com

Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffee, tea, and cocoa.
A radical and pioneering business model which attempted to use the power of capitalism to generate dollars for charity. One of the many "hybrid" models that was popular in the early 20XX years, but ultimately flawed by its inability to actually produce profits for charity.

I came away from Notre Dame with the same impression that many other grad school students do after our two year degrees: "Gee, I wish I could have spent four years here."
Wonderful, tight-knit family campus environment. Loved learning under Dean Carolyn Woo's team of business professors. Loved the strong, pervasive focus on ethics throughout every class.

Between playing soccer and mountain biking, it's no wonder I changed my major 11 times. I was enjoying myself so much, I signed up for the 5-year track and graduated with a significant amount of extra hours that did not count towards my final degree.
But it was fun grabbing a sample of all the different departments within Baylor - I'd recommend the strategy for anyone - as long as you are on scholarship!
