The Chestnut Hill WaterWorks Museum, located across the street from the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, is a discovery and learning museum devoted to the historical and technological aspects of the supply of water to Metropolitan Boston residents and businesses from the founding of Boston to the present. The region’s newest museum plans a mid-2009 opening. The centerpiece of this new museum’s collection are the massive and original steam engines inside the original historic Richardsonian-style waterworks buildings.
