Scott Deatherage is a partner in the Environmental Law Practice Group at Thompson & Knight LLP in Dallas, Texas. He received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Letters with minors in French and Botany, with highest honors, from the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Deatherage practices in the areas of permitting, compliance, administrative and judicial litigation in air, water, hazardous waste, and toxic substance matters before local, state, and federal environmental agencies and courts. He advises clients on environmental matters relating to corporate governance and environmental disclosure. He serves as the firm's head of the Climate Change and Renewable Energy Practice Group. In this capacity, he works on carbon trading transactions, advising clients regarding developing carbon credit projects, and advising clients on corporate strategy regarding climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon trading.
In addition to my broad environmental law experience, my specialites range from experience in addressing environmental issues in financial disclosure issues, oil and gas matters, bankruptcy, transactions, environmental insurance (including negotiating the terms of insurance policies with insurance carriers for clients), renewable energy (including wind energy and landfill-gas-to-energy projects).
