    October 1997October 1998 (1 year 1 month)

I had a fellowship of National Institute for Physics of Matter for research on sources of highly correlated (entangled) photons, generated by parametric fluorescence in non-linear crystals. By these sources it's possible to code and transmit information at a quantum level (quantum information), to increase the capacity of transfer of communication channels (quantum teleportation) and it's possible to develop optical circuits for quantum computation and quantum cryptography. I carried out a test of the non-locality of quantum mechanics [Physical Review Letters 79, 2755 (1997)], and the first experiment of state teleportation [Physical Review Letters 80, 1121 (1998)]. This experiment has raised remarkable interest in the scientific community for the perspectives which has opened; many reviews, infact, have reported information about the experiment: Nature,(11/12/97); Science, (12/12/97); Physics World, (3/3/98); The Economist, (13/12/97); Sapere, (feb. 98)[http://www.galileonet.it].
