Local platform working to overthrow the city of Antwerp's new dress code. This dress code is mainly aimed at Muslim women, who are forced to take their headscarves off. BOEH! believes this is a discriminatory measure, negatively affecting muslim women's chances on the labour market and in education.
Through my graduate thesis and through my antiracist-feminist work in FC Poppesnor and NextGenderation, I have been involved in BOEH! from day one. I designed the posters we spread throughout the city just before the national elections as a plead to our fellow citizens and the city council to oppose the city's 'headscarf ban'.

FC Poppesnor is a feminist collective in Antwerp that mainly organizes monthly feminist cafés. We stand for a dynamic feminism that is constantly looking for ways to connect, both figuratively, by looking at overlapping realities of inequality, and literaly, by looking for alliances with organisations and individuals rooted in different social movements.
I co-founded FC Poppesnor in 2004. It is still the organisation/project dearest to my heart. In 2008 we're still going strong!

NextGenderation is a transnational European network of students, researchers and activists with an interest in feminist theory and politics, and their intersections with anti-racist, migrant, lesbian, queer and anti-capitalist struggles.
There are small NextGenderation groups in certain cities/countries, Belgium being one of them. Over the last few years, our group has mainly been working on a project called 'gebroken wit / blanc cassé' (broken white), an antiracist effort focussing on the fact that white people need to take responsability for their racism and their privileges. Our group also guides workshops.

Moussem is an Antwerp-based organisation that brings performing and visual arts from the Maghreb and the Arab world to Belgian cultural centres and art houses. Its approach is incredibly multi-faceted: focusing on traditional as well as contemporary arts, for a target audience of all ages and backgrounds. Although I was very honoured to be on the team as a coordinator of the communication, press and promotion policy of this organisation, the desire to focus on developing expertise as a freelance graphic designer urged me to give up Moussem...

Sophia is the Belgian network for women's studies. I worked part-time for Sophia for 3 years. My French-speaking collegue and I were responsible for coordinating and organizing meetings, conferences and various projects. We were also responsible for keeping the website up-to-date and for maintaining contact with the network of this small organization.
