Drawing on my background in land conservation and civil litigation experience in state and federal courts in Maine, I focus my practice on land use and property law.
I truly enjoy helping clients determine what they can and cannot do with their property. I provide land use opinions, and help clients obtain (or challenge) land use permits at the municipal and state agency level, including judicial appeals if necessary. I help clients resolve boundary and easement disputes through litigation or settlement. I also negotiate conservation easements, trail easements and licences, and assist in real estate transactions.
Sarah is admitted to the bar of the State of Maine, United States District Court, Maine District, and the United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit.
In 2013, I co-founded Douglas McDaniel Campo & Schools LLC, PA -- a general civil practice law firm working throughout the State of Maine. My practice continues to focus on property law under the Maine Land Law name: land use permitting and appeals, conveyances, land conservation, and civil litigation of real property disputes, including boundaries, title and access. By forming the firm, I have joined forces with three other excellent attorneys with practice areas that include: personal injury, commercial and general civil litigation, family law, and immigration matters.
Solo practitioner (2009-2013) focusing in all aspects of real property law, principally land use permitting and appeals, easement conveyances, and civil litigation of real property disputes.
I closed the solo practice in October 2013 to co-found Douglas McDaniel Campo & Schools LLC, but continue to focus my practice and work under the Maine Land Law name as well.
As an associate attorney at a 14-18 lawyer firm in Portland, Maine, my practice focused approximately 75% on land use permitting and appeals, property development and regulation, boundary and easement disputes, and municipal law. The remainder of my time was spent on general litigation in state and federal court, including substantive areas of property taxation, admiralty, eminent domain, corporations law, and contracts. I was responsible for handling most aspects of cases including: extensive client interaction, court hearings and oral argument (including at the Maine Supreme Judicial Court), appearances before municipal and state boards, Rule 16B ADR negotiations, depositions and witness examinations.
