Having enjoyed life in Eindhoven, The Netherlands where I was contracting as Senior Communications Manager with Philips International for three months, I now have landed in Paris.
Prior to Philips I was the interim PR & Communications Manager with the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe.
During my 18 months with ASD Europe, I substantially raised its profile. I did this by e.g. launching an advertisement financed bi-annual magazine, ASD Focus, in order to exploit and show ASD's expertise and thought leadership externally. The readership is international decision makers, industry leaders and members. I have established better press and media contacts.
As people manager I have a helicopter view of the work of my direct reports, in practise this means I set targets with the staff for which I am responsible after which I combine regular follow-ups with trust. I have found this is a very efficient way of working; it builds well-organised projects and entities, empowers the staff and encourage professional growth. It also means that the identified goals are achieved on time and within budget.
I have lived and worked in five European countries. I have worked with and managed multinational teams. I see the common cultural and market factors, while at the same time understanding their differences. After an initial "study and thinking phase" I provide creative solutions that take into account corporate traditions. I have found this way of combining the new and inventive with "old ways" a very efficient way of achieving results and targets.
