    January 2007April 2007 (4 months)

In order to obtain a degree & gain a first work experience I had to apply for an IT-internship. Belgian internships have a duration of 2months, but since I went abroad it was a 13weeks contract. During my 3months in the UK, I lived in Peterborough (Cambridgeshire). Where I worked as a trainee for one of the largest engineering companies worldwide: Cummins. To be more correct, I worked for Cummins Business Services, were I was located in the most important datacenter of the EMEA region. I didn't had 1 large task to do, so I gained knowledge on various domains: 6sigma, problem&change management, telecom, datacenter ops,... Thanks to P. Corbett I had a short introduction into UNIX. He took me down to datacenters to rack, install and configure new servers. During my time in datacenters I also got the opportunity to get familiar with Avocent & Veritas products. Next to my normal tasks I also had the chance to attend a weekly change board and to be a member of the Student Charitee Committee.

Because of my yearly summer-employment I have done all kinds of tasks and I'm familiar with the whole process. All this on a very busy schedule: long days, even on Saturday, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Occasional I also have to fix day-to-day computerproblems, making pricelists and helping out with invoices.
