Sam Srinivas’s Experience

  • Co-Founder

    Backhop Software

    (Computer Software industry)

    December 2008Present (1 year 1 month)

We are building some cool new consumer software that you really need ... details soon.

  • Venture Consultant

    Early Stage Startups

    (Computer Software industry)

    November 2006Present (3 years 2 months)

I consult with early stage tech startups which interest me and help them hone their business plans, focus their execution and raise funds. I did this out of Bangalore, India through August 2008 and then moved back to the Bay Area. I continue to be linked into the Bangalore network.

  • Vice President & Chief Technologist

    Juniper Networks, Inc.

(Public Company; JNPR; Computer Networking industry)

    April 2004October 2006 (2 years 7 months)

I came to Juniper through the acquisition of Netscreen. I worked out of US HQ initially, reporting to the CTO, and launched the concept & execution of the Unified Access Control LAN security product line among other things.

Later I moved to the Bangalore, India office, still reporting to the CTO at HQ. I was a key link back to senior management during a period of rapid growth and restructuring from a small 100 man team to a mid size 500 man team. I was also an external spokesman for Juniper in the India and EMEA markets.

  • Vice President, Engineering Product Management

    NetScreen Technologies

(Public Company; NSCN; Computer & Network Security industry)

    November 2003April 2004 (6 months)

I came to Netscreen through the acquisition of Neoteris. I ran product management for the SSL VPN (ex-Neoteris) line of products.

  • Founder & Vice President, Product Management

    Neoteris, Inc.

    (Computer Software industry)

    April 2000November 2003 (3 years 8 months)

Neoteris' product line was, and continues (as part of Juniper Networks) to be the world market share leader in the area of SSL-VPN. SSL-VPN products provide simple secure web-browser based remote access to corporate networks -- Neoteris is credited with inventing this category of security products.

I was the founding CEO of Neoteris. I led the 4 man founding team through one year of self funded progress which culminated in multiple competing funding offers in 2001 -- a time when the post-bubble crash was in full force. After bringing in a full-time CEO, I ran the product line as the Vice President of Product Management. Working with a world class team that came together at Neoteris, I saw the product line through 4 full release cycles, three rounds of funding, and two years of rapidly expanding revenues which culminated in Neoteris being acquired by Netscreen Technologies for $295 Million in November 2003.

  • Sr Deployment Mgr

    Healtheon

(Public Company; HLTH; Information Technology and Services industry)

    19962000 (4 years )

I was an early employee at Healtheon, a company founded in 1996 to bring the efficiencies of Internet connectivity to the various players in the Healthcare space. I ran the initial deployments of the first two products to come out of Healtheon and played a hybrid role spanning customer deployment, account management and product management.

  • Researcher

    Microsoft

(Public Company; MSFT; Computer Software industry)

    August 1995August 1996 (1 year 1 month)

I was an early recruit into Microsoft Research. I worked on using probabilistic modeling techniques in solving issues in next generation computer interfaces.

  • Research Associate

    Rockwell Science Center

    (Defense & Space industry)

    July 1988July 1995 (7 years 1 month)

I was a research programmer working in Artifical Intelligence research. A software package I developed, IDEAL, became the de-facto standard software toolbench in the worldwide Bayesian Network reseach community. In the later years I was a full time PhD student working part time at Rockwell.
