I have ten years experience in the competitive electricity market sector in North America. I have worked with a broad array of clients including independent system operators (ISOs), power marketers, merchant generators and load serving entities in both the United States and Canada.
I participated in the functional design, testing, marketing and deployment of software (nMarket) that enables market participants to bid, settle and capture public market data from ISOs across North America.
I am currently an employee of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) which is located in Rensselaer, New York. As a Strategic and Business Planning Specialist my principle duties include management of the NYISO business and strategic plans. I am also responsible for coverage and analysis of various forward looking market issues including fuel diversity, renewable technology integration and developments in other electricity markets.
In 2008 I co-authored a white paper on the subject of Fuel Diversity which was released to the public via the NYISO website.
I am a veteran of the United States Army. During my tenure with the U.S. Army (1993 - 1998) I successfully completed Airborne training, Officer Candidate School (OCS 2-95), Armor Officer Basic Course and the Scout Platoon Leader Course. I served in the 2nd Brigade 1st Armored Division as a Tank Platoon Leader and Tank Company Executive Officer.
At the present time I am pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the State University at Albany.
In my spare time I enjoy exploring the world of new (or social) media on the web. I have a passion for web based publishing using open source tools such as Drupal or WordPress. I am fascinated by the possibilities of bringing knowledge of energy and electricity markets to a much broader audience via the power of these social web tools.
