A Literacy Volunteer, in Morris county, New Jersey, she conducts a course at the local library, to help immigrants with their Citizenship test preparation and tutors adult immigrant students in the community.

Rupa is a life member of New York city based South Asian Journalists Association and an early supporter of South Asians in Media and Marketing Association- SAMMA. She is also on the executive advisory board of Raleigh-Durham based National Organization for Diversity in Sales and Marketing.
