Jess Sand’s Summary

Born and raised on the East Coast, I've been living and writing in San Francisco for the last dozen years. My approach to communications is based on over a decade of in-house business management, design, writing, and marketing experience. I've also served stints as a bookkeeper, poet, teacher, honky tonk DJ, and bartender—all of which directly inform my work.

Roughstock Studios is my solo communications practice, started in 2004. Roughstock develops ethical and engaging messages for independently-minded organizations, as well as creative agencies working with them.

Occasionally unorthodox but always responsive, I try to challenge boring thinking and seek out the less obvious in everything the studio does. Always, of course, with the practical goals of my clients and collaborators in mind.

I'm always open to new projects and idea exchanges, so don't hesitate to drop me a message.
