Social Marketing Strategist at Cake
Greater New York City Area
Living in NYC, working as a Social Marketing Strategist at Cake, the second iteration of my post-college dream job.
Growing up with Napster and Xanga, I've lived online since the dial-up era. Of course, my digital footprint has evolved with the ever-changing digital landscape, but throughout all the iterations, my passion remains the same. I'm fascinated with helping brands understand and use emerging technology platforms; I'm captivated by the way different audiences use and respond to the internet; I'm curious about the ways business will evolve with the continued digital developments.
I have a soft spot for little kids, piggy back rides, red wine and cupcakes : )
I love the internet.
SMPR, blogging, branding, graphic design, viral video campaigns/execution, facebook, vimeo.com, dreamweaver, flash, basic html, in design, photoshop, the internet : )

(Privately Held; Translation and Localization industry)
May 2007 — September 2009 (2 years 5 months)
I interned with Translation during the summer of 2007. I primarily worked on an electronics account (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention the name) to develop a global youth marketing strategy. I also worked on the (MySpace) launch of P. Diddy's fragrance: 'Unforgivable Woman' as well as the Beyonce B'Phone launch. I didn't really sit in on client meetings; Instead, I delivered client presentations and was always pushed to interact with the clients throughout the process.
As a remote employee, each day I deliver a pop culture newsletter of sorts called "The Daily Download". I combine research from trade sites such as AdAge as well as blogs and other Web sites and then write about any trends. The Daily Download covers the following areas: Fashion & Celebrity Gossip, Lifestyle, Music, Automotive, Movies & TV, Technology, Advertising & Marketing, Branding and a Miscellaneous section.

(Public Relations and Communications industry)
January 2005 — May 2008 (3 years 5 months)
I first served as an Assistant to the VP Social my freshman year at Pi Beta Phi.
My sophomore year, the position was re-titled to New Member Coordinator, and I took that position my sophomore year. My budget was $20 thousand and I did everything from event planning to academic programming for 180+ girls.
Until January 08, I am served as the T-Shirt chair. I coordinated with various apparel providers all t-shirts printed for the sorority (aprox 1/week). I brainstormed ideas and worked with graphic designers and then distributed the final product to the sorority as a whole.
(Marketing and Advertising industry)
2007 — 2007 (less than a year)
I researched new music and bands through MySpace. I also handled requests from bands wanting to play at Tasty World. I cataloged all press kits from bands and kept track of the numbers each band was bringing in.
In addition to the basic booking stuff, Murphy, the owner of Tasty World, taught me a good bit about owning your own business and how the music scene in Athens worked. I also wrote press releases for large shows (visible on TastyWorld.net)
