Assistant News Editor Features at Newsday
Greater New York City Area
During my tenure at Newsday, I have had extensive experience in management, editing, writing and layout.
I have managed the staff that produced the weekly television supplement, edited everything from business to fashion copy, and have been responsible for creating and implementing layouts for a number of features and business sections, including the weekly travel, food, real estate and automotive sections, as well as the annual Fun Book.
My duties have required that I interface not only with colleagues in the editorial, production, marketing and advertising departments, but also with celebrities, publicists, photo editors and outside vendors.
I excel at detail work, meeting deadlines and troubleshooting problems. I've trained new employees and assist colleagues with more limited PC skills.
I have written stories for a number of different editors and sections, with subject matter ranging from television, pop culture and technology to travel, books and getting married.
I am both familiar and extremely comfortable with current technology, possessing both computer and online skills. I've designed, created and maintained my own blog.
Experience in management, editing, writing, reporting, layout, editorial production and interfacing with colleagues and outside contacts.
Tech savvy both off- and online, with training in HTML.
