Ron Modro’s Summary

Ron Modro is a well traveled world explorer whose actions never cease to amuse, confuse, inspire and influence everyone he meets.

Born in 1964, and the youngest of 10 children, what he has done throughout his professional career is based on his ideas from deep within. In late 1998, Ron left the film and television industry, where he had spent fifteen years, and accepted the job that was to later set him on his chosen path; Senior Manager of the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

The position was a natural fit for Modro as he believes that it is our destiny as human beings to see the world as it really is and to do what we can to change the things we see that are wrong.

During his successful tenure as Senior Manager, the Museum was awarded the "United Nations Global Tolerance Award" in 2004, as well as a commendation by the City of Los Angeles for their outstanding work in the field of Tolerance Education.

In 2004, he published *THE LITTLE BOOK OF MAN*; a collection of thoughts and essays on the human spirit and what it means to be "alive", and has received top writing awards from the International Society of Poets in 2002, 2003, 2004 and, in 2005 was honored with EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD and POET OF MERIT AWARDS.

An independent journalist/photographer and a registered member of the International Press Association, Ron has written numerous articles and produced short documentaries about life as an American Ex-Pat in France and Morocco where he lived for four years.

Modro is currently sponsoring a Global Photographic Project entitled "ONCE UPON A TIME ON PLANET EARTH." http://www.littlebookofman.org and "Brotherly Love, A Vision of Hope" (a multimedia essay on The Homeless of Philadelphia).

Brotherly Love, A Vision of Hope

    (Entertainment industry)

    July 2008January 2009 (7 months)

“Brotherly Love, A Vision of Hope” is a bold and innovative documentary project, designed to bring those in the shadows of modern society into the light of recognition, understanding and acceptance. The belief that a society is judged by the way it treats its poor and helpless is the cornerstone of this photographic/multimedia essay.

With support and logistical assistance from Philadelphia Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Photojournalist/Artist Ron Modro, photographed and recorded the stories of those living in the shadows, to show the hardship of life on the streets, by going into the shelter system to tell their stories from their perspective.

The idea is to create a public multi-media exhibition using photographs and video to show the human side of life on the streets. Taking those in the shadows from a life of invisibility, to a life at the forefront of the movement to create change in the way America sees its poor and homeless.

  • Founder/Organizer

ONCE UPON A TIME ON PLANET EARTH

    (Photography industry)

    January 2007January 2009 (2 years 1 month)

A fast growing International Photographic Project, designed to explore the ordinariness of daily life, which apparently seems otherworldly to world leaders who are unable and/or unwilling to responsibly sit down at the negotiating table to settle their differences.

Once Upon a Time on Planet Earth there was an event so big that it changed the course of human history, an event that shook the Earth to its very core. An event we are destined to repeat again if we do not change the course of world affairs.

Once Upon a Time on Planet Earth is the brain-child of ex-pat Ron Modro; an American Independent Journalist/Photographer currently living in Pennsylvania.

The belief that individual human beings can make a difference, gives life to this innovative project.

Remembering a single moment in history is the very essence of this Global Photographic endeavor.
