Principal Broker of 4 Buyers Real Estate
Greater Boston Area
I am a real, true, exclusive, dedicated, undivided...whatever you want to call it, buyer's agent. I am in it for buyers. For them finding a good place to live and for them getting every penny's worth. I represented four sellers in my first year, then walked away from that side of the business and never looked back.
I am one of the pioneer buyer's agents in Massachusetts and in the country, in general. I joined the Massachusetts Association of Buyer's Agents (MABA) almost as soon as I got my license. I joined the National Association of Exclusive Buyer's Agents (NAEBA) the day it was founded. I am on the BOD of MABA, where I have been on the PR committee. I currently blog at Boston.com as a service to MABA.
for clients: negotiation, counseling, advocacy.
for the public: writing, public relations

After seventeen years of working for someone else, I chose to use my skills and experience in my own enterprise. I will be providing the same high-level fiduciary services, but with my systems and my style. 4 Buyers Real Estate is of a small number of buyer agencies who choose to never represent a home seller. We promise to stay on the cutting edge in regard to buyer agency. We work to get you the best house for the best price with the least stress and to and try to have fun doing it. The office currently has two people, me and Dianne Schaefer. In March, 2009, I hired Mike Berry to cover the metrowest region for us.
Our office serves the Cambridge/Somerville/Arlington and most of metro Boston. Now, we also cover the area between I-95 and I495, north of Rt 9/Mass Pike and south of Rt 2.
I continue to serve on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of Buyer’s Agents and I am a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyers Agent’s.

June 2007 — Present (2 years 2 months)
I was tapped by Boston.com to be the buyer agent for their new real estate blog in June, 2007. I went off for a couple of months early in 2008 and came back in May that year. I am having a blast! Hopefully, I'm getting some decent advice out there to buyers, too. Please, write me with ideas or pet peeves. I am supposed to write five times a week, so it is hard to stay fresh and interesting.

My next career will involve writing. I would love suggestions, pointers and free-lance work.

Buyer Brokerage Realty is one of a small number of agencies where the agents only work with home buyers. In the eleven years I worked there, I honed my skills as a buyer's agent, trained newer agents, and helped develop marketing materials and buyer reference materials.
I left to open my own business. I hold great respect for my fellow agents, Kathe Geist and the late Hilda Silverman.

HomeBase Real Estate was a small exclusive buyer broker agency based in Belmont. We did specialty services in accessible real estate purchases. My background in deaf-blind services and group homes made me suited to this work.
HomeBase is where I cut my teeth as a buyer's agent. Ron Rothenberg is one of the brightest people I have ever met. I was lucky to start in this career with him as a mentor. I knew the accessible housing, he taught me the rest!
MS , Counselor Education , 1982 — 1984
I completed the coursework for three Master's Degrees at Western Maryland College, which was recently renamed McDaniel College. They only let me take one away with me.
Deaf-Blind Education and Deaf Education were the other degrees. I hold a master's level teaching certificate, too.
BA , English Literature, education , 1976 — 1980
When I entered college, I thought I would be a professional writer. When I graduated, I was a teacher.
I like the complexities of my job in real estate. I enjoy negotiation and tangible outcomes. When I am not working, I am involved in two kinds of book groups: one is an interfaith group and the other reads mysteries.
