ICT Strategist at NV Nederlandse Gasunie
Groningen Area, Netherlands
In 1996 I started working as a IT Professional for Pink Elephant. As was normal in those days I started at the helpdesk and gradually I worked my 'way up' to System Manager. The following assignment was as a system engineer but I quickly became involved in ITIL Change Management. From 1998 on I was involved in several ITIL processes up to the year 2000.
In 2000 I started working as Manager Remote Management for Netwatch. This did not last long, because of a takeover by Centric. Therefor I started working for Bureau Hoving & Van Bon in the end of 2000, holding a position as a consultant and as an editor. During the five years I worked for BHVB I learned a lot about IT (Service) Management and IT Governance and I was able to practice this at several companies.
In the latter part of my career at BHVB I became involved in ITGA, the association for IT Governance. ITGA consisted of several companies all sharing the idea to establish one single framework for IT Governance. This was when I realised that IT Governance was something I liked a lot.
In 2005 I became aware it was time to change and so I started working as a Consultant IT Governance for Atos Origin. During my short stay at Atos Origin I was able to explore other aspects of IT Management as well. So, I became involved in Bid Management and Crisis Management.
In september 2006 I made the move to the NV Nederlandse Gasunie as an ICT Strategist. At Gasunie I am responsible for the Gasunie Information Plan, The Strategic ICT Policies, The Gasunie Logical Data Model, and several other strategic issues.
ICT Strategy, Information Planning, IT Governance, Demand Management, IT Service Management, IT Management, Crisis Management, Bid Management, Service Level Management, Change Management.
(Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; Oil & Energy industry)
September 2006 — Present (2 years 2 months)
Major objective in my new role was and is how to get IT within Gasunie more future-ready and to introduce a more planned approach.
In 2006 had to come up with a Gasunie Information Plan. Within this information plan we formulated several themes for the coming years.
In 2007 we changed the way in which the ICT Investment budget was divided. The Board of Directors accepted our proposal and we executed the budgetting process. The budgets for 2008 were divided according to this new policy.
Also I formulated Strategic ICT Policies for Gasunie. These policies are important in the use and implementation of ICT within Gasunie.
At the end of 2007 I became involved in the pre-merger activities of BEB Transport. I was responsible for the ICT workstream. I ams also heaviliy involved in the integration phase.
2008 is the year for implementing solutions for themes identified in the Gasunie Information Plan 2007 and come up with a Gausnie Information Plan for the coming years.
