ICT Strategy Manager at NV Nederlandse Gasunie
Groningen Area, Netherlands
In 1996 I started working as a IT Professional for Pink Elephant. As was normal in those days I started at the helpdesk and gradually I worked my 'way up' to System Manager. The following assignment was as a system engineer but I quickly became involved in ITIL Change Management. From 1998 on I was involved in several ITIL processes up to the year 2000.
In 2000 I started working as Manager Remote Management for Netwatch, a department of systems engineers and ITIL process managers. This did not last long, because of a takeover by Centric. Therefor I started working for Bureau Hoving & Van Bon in the end of 2000, holding a position as a consultant and as an editor. During the five years I worked for BHVB I learned a lot about IT (Service) Management, IT Management and IT Governance and I was able to practice this at several companies.
In the latter part of my career at BHVB I became involved in ITGA, the association for IT Governance. ITGA consisted of several companies all sharing the idea to establish one single framework for IT Governance. This was when I realised that IT Governance was something I liked a lot.
In 2005 I became aware it was time to change and so I started working as a Consultant IT Governance for Atos Origin. During my short stay at Atos Origin I was able to explore other aspects of IT Management as well. So, I became involved in Bid Management leading teams of various business and ICT professionals in bringing out commercial bids..
In september 2006 I made the move to the NV Nederlandse Gasunie as an ICT Strategy Manager. Within Gasunie I am responsible for the Gasunie Information Plan, The Gasunie ICT Policies and the Gasunie ICT Strategy. During the pre&post merger of Gasunie Deutschland I was responsible for the ICT workstream.
ICT Strategy, Information Planning, IT Governance, Demand Management, IT Service Management, IT Management, Crisis Management, Bid Management, Service Level Management, Change Management, ICT Mergers & Acquisitions.
(Public Company; Oil & Energy industry)
September 2006 — Present (2 years 11 months)
In my role as ICT Strategy manager I luckily encountered many intersting challenges. Basically my job is to increase the future-readiness of ICT within Gasunie. Some of the challenges within this objective are and were:
Publishing a Gasunie Information Plan for the years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Within this information plan we formulated several ICT related topics for the coming years.
Proposing and changing the allocation of the ICT Investment budget. The proposal was accepted by the Gasunie Executive Board and we executed the new budgetting allocation process for 2008 and onwards.
Establishing and publication of Strategic Gasunie ICT Policies. These policies were replaced in 2009 by the Gasunie ICT Architecture Policies.
Workgroup lead for the pre-merger and post merger activities of BEB Transport (now Gasunie deutschland). Some of the activities were: due dilligence, value capturing, integration of ICT license and ICT procurement.
