March 2006 — March 2008 (2 years 1 month)
In 2006 I had the opportunity to take some time off to travel and enjoy doing a variety of activities. I left London and set up in Thailand where I spent some time travelling around SE Asia (Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia), getting into the local life and culture and learning Thai.
I also joined an online community (www.nabuur.com) where I managed a team of online volunteers working on a water sanitation project in Uganda (I was nominated for my work for the UN Online Volunteer Award 2006). I also set up several websites for African communities providing them with a presence on the Internet (www.africasyfa.org ceho.org bunabumali.my-php.net)
I also enjoyed writing articles on IP and access to medicine and on health issue in Asia, and developed a website for those working on HIV/AIDS in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
It was a time for personal learning and discovery and though I have enjoyed it greatly I am happy to be back in London.
