Digital Media Executive and Interactive Marketer
San Francisco Bay Area
I lead digital initiatives for a group of radio stations, including San Francisco's legendary KGO.
My passion is moving radio into the digital space, with a focus on driving ratings and revenue (and preserving and building asset value) by migrating strong local brands, unique content, listener relationships, community involvement, and marketing capabilities onto the Internet and wireless platforms. The Internet gives radio an amazing opportunity to interact with listeners and advertisers, and transform data into actionable insights.
I've been leading the radio industry in this direction since the early '90s, when I built radio's first website and email database marketing program, for KKSF, and founded one of the early streaming companies.
As an industry, we radio people are still only getting our feet wet in the digital space. We have a LOT to learn. Meanwhile, our listeners and advertisers are moving there, quickly (or already living there.) Therein lies both a threat and a tremendous opportunity for radio. It's a big challenge. And I am continuing to lead the charge.
