Richard is currently the Director of Retail Websites for Furniture First, a buying coop for approximately 170 independent furniture stores across the country, and is responsible for the web technologies that members use.
Before joining Furniture First, Richard was a Senior Sales Engineer for Xtiva Financial Systems in New York, NY. Richard provided sales support and marketing strategy for the suite of commission, licensing and billing software from Xtiva, all focused on the financial services industry.
Prior to Xtiva, Richard was a Senior IT Consultant at Delta Development Group. In this role, he worked closely with clients to define and create value-added IT solutions. Richard also consulted and helped clients define strategic initiatives and long-term plans for leveraging information technology.
Richard endeavored into entrepreneurism when he founded Cogent Business Applications, a company that developed and marketed a web-based content management solution targeted to sales organizations, designed to decrease sales cycle times and increase sales volume.
In the 1990's, Richard was heavily involved in software and application development, creating innovative and value-added solutions for many clients. Richard also worked to help companies analyze and re-engineer many of their key processes, based primarily on his ability to analyze a situation, create a solution, and continually seek excellence. Richard specializes in development environments from Microsoft, including ASP .NET, MS SQL Server and Windows servers. He is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Microsoft Visual C# and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
Richard earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Pennsylvania State University, as well as a B.S. in Information Systems, also from the Pennsylvania State University, both with honors. Richard is a United States Air Force veteran having served during Operation Just Cause (Panama) and Operation Desert Storm.
