I am currently leading Massar, having established this ground-breaking non-profit NGO in Syria to create a national non-formal learning and citizenship programme for young people. The aim is to encourage creativity, critical thinking, insight and social engagement amongst 5 to 15 year-olds. Massar's philosophy is that life is a journey, and it is in our own hands to choose what we make of it. Massar's logo represents life's inter-weaving pathways.
More generally, I work as an independent consultant, advising non-profits and cultural organisations, shaping and initiating development and change programmes. I draw on the practical experience of understanding, managing and transforming public sector cultural institutions over many years. I have also worked in the private sector for telecoms and computer services companies.
My past positions have been both creative and managerial, until 2004 heading 400 staff as Head of NMSI Trading, the commercial and enterprise arm of London's Science Museum.
I am a strong ideas person, problem-solver, strategic thinker, shaper, project leader. Able to blend public service ethos and not-for-profit strategy with sound commercial sense.
