Roberto Polillo’s Summary

Born in Milano, in 1946. Graduated in Physics at the University of Milano in 1972. Never really understood physics, from the beginning only involved in computer software.
From 1975 to 1997 Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Milano. From 1998 associate professor at the University of Milano Bicocca, Dipartimento di Informatica, Sistemistica e Comunicazione.
In these Universities, in more than 30 years, I have been teaching courses on programming , data structures, operating systems, human computer Interaction and web design. I am a coordinator of the Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Theory and technology of communication of the University of Milano Bicocca.
Since 1972, I was heavily involved in consulting for the Industry. Also for the European Commission (ESPRIT research programme, 1989-1998).
In 1978 I co- founded Etnoteam, where I was Director of Operations, Managing Director and CEO. From 2000 to 2003 I was also Chairman of E-Tree, a web company acquired by Etnoteam. Since early 2007, I am no longer a shareholder of Etnoteam.
In over 30 years, I have been involved in software projects of any type. Presently my interests are human-computer interaction and usable web applications, especially for no-profit orgs. My latest books: "Il check-up dei siti web" (Apogeo, 2004) and "Plasmare il Web" (Apogeo, 2006). I am interested in photography. My photos of the jazz masters of the '60s have been collected in a book: "Swing, Bop & Free" (Polillo Editore, 2006) and shown in many personal exhibitions. See them on flickr.
