Commercial litigation, business law and environmental attorney
Greater Atlanta Area
My legal practice is a mix of general business, real estate (design and construction) and environmental litigation and general business counseling. I represent clients in mediation, arbitration and in state and federal courts and before regulatory authorities, and I advise clients on general business matters, including entity formation, contract negotiation/drafting/review, intellectual property (trademark and licensing), corporate reporting and compliance, vendor and supplier standards, employment and other general business matters. I seek to work with clients to identify and manage their legal risks and to help them accomplish their personal and professional social, environmental and economic objectives.
I am a LEED AP, and a member of Sustainable Atlanta's Sustainable Building Taskforce. I serve on the Board of Directors and am acting Board Secretary of the Green Chamber of the South, a business organization promoting sustainable business practices in the Southeast. I am a member of the Atlanta Branch - Georgia Chapter of the U.S. Green Business Council and the Atlanta District Council of the Urban Land Institute, where I serve on its Technical Assistance Program Committee and as Co-chair of its Community Assistance (Sustainability) Sub-committee. I am also a member of the Atlanta Bar Association (Environmental & Toxic Tort (past chair), Real Estate and Litigation sections) and the State Bar of Georgia (Environmental, Real Property and Litigation sections).
I also serve on the Board of a second-generation family business providing residential and commercial door products and services, and I'm a founding member and legal advisor to One Team at a Time, Inc., a Georgia non-profit working with the Atlanta Burundian community to provide soccer clothing and equipment to recreational club teams in Burundi in support of peace and ethnic reconciliation. When I am not working, I am probably running trails or cycling.
In addition to representing clients in actual or potential litigation and regulatory actions, and advising clients on a variety of general business issues, I enjoy working with clients to identify and manage their legal risks related to their green business practices and building projects and to do so in a collaborative and cost-effective manner.
