Robert Larsen’s Summary

I have over 20 years experience in the IT industry, most of which has been spent in telecoms, where I’ve worked in varied roles such as technical consulting, network design/architecture, pre-sales support, operational support and software engineering/ development.

My experience has been gained in a wide range of environments, from multi-national organisations, international service providers as well as small start-ups. I have achieved this through working in both team environments and on an individual and independent basis.

I am a strong believer that a hands-on role is critical to maintaining my technical expertise, and this is something that is apparent in the various roles I have performed in the past. I get satisfaction from being able to test a design out in a lab environment to prove that it will work before live implementation, rollout and support. I have over 14 years experience with Cisco IOS, routers and switches as well as more than 5 years experience with Juniper JUNOS, M-series routers and NetScreen firewalls.

I also very much enjoy a customer-facing role since no two customers are alike, and so the variety this gives is always a challenge that I am keen to take on. Taking part in in-depth technical discussions with customers forms a key part of being able to fully understand their requirements, which is essential to being able to deliver a successful solution.
