Rich LaBarca’s Summary

I've had a diverse engineering leadership career focused on new and emerging technologies, and monetizing them.

I started my career in research with computer assisted surgery, leading the development of several surgical software systems focused on adult reconstructive orthopaedic surgery. These systems were used extensively on surgical patients and in lab experiments to form the basis of new surgical techniques and improve the outcome of joint replacement.

Transitioning into the software startup world, I focused on mobile software. I've designed and built sophisticated client-side applications in J2ME and Windows Mobile, led the development and created the core technology for an AI platform for mobile gaming, and a high-performance platform for mobile ad serving. With Clearspring, I designed and developed their mobile sharing platform.

Developing a mobile ad server from scratch transitioned me into another focus - monetization and advertising platforms. I am continuing this work with Clearspring, integrating our platform with tier-1 ad serving solutions, developing new ad units, and supporting emerging buisness models with advertising for the distributed web.
