My research program is about mundane consumption; seeking to understand the role of consumption as embedded in ordinary daily life. The social identity construct as proven a useful construct for organizing mundane consumption.
I have published articles in journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Research in Consumer Behavior, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Sciences, and Advances in Consumer Research.
I was awarded the Robert Ferber Award for my 1991 paper, Contextual Influences on the Meanings Ascribed to Ordinary Consumption Objects (with Jerome B. Kernan), which was published in the Journal of Consumer Research.
While at ONU, I have been instrumental in developing and launching the following programs:
* Marketing Minor
* Marketing Major
* Pharmaceutical Business Major (with concentrations in Management, Marketing, and Economics)
* An institutional positioning strategy for ONU
* An initiative to infuse entrepreneurship across the ONU campus
I am also an accomplished photographer with numerous photo credits and writer. In addition, I am coauthor (with Ken McNamara) of "HIking the Grand Canyon: The Corridor Trails" (see www.grandcanyonhiker.com for details and to purchase).
