I am a master's degree candidate in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT, graduating in June 2010. My interests lie in the field of public transportation. I have conducted transportation design and planning research in the MIT Mobile Experience Lab, and as an intern at BNSF Railway and the RATP (the public transportation authority of Paris, France). I have also served as a software development consultant to Amtrak's IT Department in Washington, D.C. for the past eight years.
I am especially interested in improving, shaping and programming the "passenger experience": the level of enjoyment a user of public transportation derives from his or her time spent in transit. I believe that being in transit -- the unique time and space between one's origin and destination -- is one of the most special things we as humans can achieve. The untapped potential that lies therein is the focus of my research.
Microsoft-based and open-source Web software development, design, and programming; SQL database design and administration; Windows, Linux and FreeBSD system and network administration; public transportation planning, design, and research; technical and creative communication, writing, and copy editing.
