The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) was established by and is still led by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, to create the base standards for the Web (eg. HTML, CSS, XML, SVG, and many others). The Internationalization Activity at the W3C is trying to make the World Wide Web world wide. It works with W3C working groups and liaises with other organizations to make it possible to use Web technologies with different languages, scripts, and cultures. It also helps content authors, implementers, and specification developers understand how to apply the international aspects of W3C technologies.

I am also a member of the Unicode Editorial Committee and a longstanding participant in the Unicode Conference board.

1996 - 2002 Global Design Consultant: Externally-focused consultancy providing seminars and guidelines on international web and user interface design (cultural, translatability, writing system and process aspects). Customers included General Electric, Lucent, Sonera, European Commission, Kodak, JustSystem, Nortel, Reuters, Staples, etc. Key contributor to the team globalising the Xerox corporate product development process. Team earned major corporate award for contributions to Time-to-Market.
1994 - 1995 Senior Multilingual Design Specialist: Developed guidelines for user interface internationalization that became corporate standards for both Xerox and Fuji Xerox. Worked with product teams and corporate architecture teams.
1989 - 1994 Senior Translation Systems Specialist: Developed a vision and requirements for future translation workbenches. Translation process development. Managed Xerox side of development of Systran Scandinavian and Dutch language pairs.
