My life just keeps on changing - I am so glad that each year when I look back it has been another year of new experience. OK so some of those experiences have been real learning experiences.

I have finally graduated from Hull University with an MSc in Gender Research. What a challenge that has been - The difficulty for me was the huge difference between business and academic writing but eventually I was satisfied with the result and now I am looking at rewriting the dissertation on coping strategies of trans women to make it more accessible outside academia.

Also this year in the UK a Gender Equality Duty came into force. This imposes a duty on public sector employers to take positive action to eliminate gender discrimination, including discrimination against trans people. This is a huge change in equalities and will impact all businesses who are funded by or supply the public sector. It is this that has inspired the launch of GenderShift as a social enterprise to deliver training and consultancy services to help complete the Equal Opportunities Commission Gender Agenda. (The EOC has now been merged into the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, EHRC, and only time will tell if this is a good move)

It is odd that after a lifetime of hiding being a trans woman - now it seems our time has come. As a trans women I see things differently and I discovered this is really important in a world where 80% of buying decisions are made by women.

GenderShift Limited will be delivering training to help create a fairer world by improving awareness of trans people, challenging prejudice and discrimination, and empowering people who are disadvantaged by gender stereotyping to be more successful.
