Rika Torres, the President and CEO of i-BEAK, Inc., is a native of Japan. She has worked in the communications field for 18 years both in Japan and the United States, performing a wide variety of services. She began her career as an editor for the Gyosei publishing company, where she participated in the planning and development of the first edition of Forbes Magazine, Japanese Edition. In 1991, she traveled abroad to perfect her English language speaking skills, spending a year in the Intensive English program at Texas Tech University. After returning to Japan, she was recruited as a researcher for a nationally recognized Japanese news anchor’s firm, Office La Mer.
In 1999, Rika immigrated to the United States, where she went to work for the semiconductor manufacturing company, Micron Technology, Inc., headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Rika was brought on as Micron’s first and only Japanese translator/ interpreter. Rika was promoted to Japanese Communications Manager, and focused on providing solutions for communication issues of both Japanese and English speakers. Subsequently she was given the additional responsibility of managing international communication issues at all of the company’s global sites, including: Italy, China, Singapore, Puerto Rico, and Scotland.
In early 2007, Rika embraced the opportunity to create her own communications business, and founded J-BEAK (Japanese Business Environment, Answers and Knowledge), where she provided clients with solutions to their foreign language/ English communication needs.
As her business grew, Rika recognized that her clients required a full suite of international solutions, and she decided to expand the business to a full international focus. In July 2008, i-BEAK, Inc. (International Business Environment, Answers and Knowledge) was incorporated. J-BEAK has since become a wholly-owned subsidiary of i-BEAK, Inc.
