Competition is now harder than ever and the challenges to survive great. So I am convinced that for the engineering industry there is no other option: calculated risks with new technologies need to be taken and the way things have been done must be challenged.
It is by understanding how to take advantage of the latest technologies that companies can come out of the current crisis stronger, with better products, new markets and new efficiencies.
Just like when I was in the Formula 1 team of Ferrari, where the car always at first appeared to be an optimized package on the limits of performance. But with hard work and new technology, due to the great competitive pressures in Formula 1, huge steps forward turned out to be possible every time.
- Proven concept design, systems engineering and product realisation skills (HOQ, marketing, strategy, DFMA, DFSS, FMEA, risk management, LCC, technology road mapping, patents, define validation and verification procedures).
- Vehicle Dynamics performance development (track testing, suspension design, dynamical simulations, 7-poster rigs, K&C rigs, R&D component testing ,etc)
- As a racecar performance development engineer enjoy working in series such as Formula Renault Eurocup, A1GP and F3.

February 2009 — Present (6 months)
Established Cogisen s.r.l. in Feb 2009.
Cogisen helps customers in the automotive and engineering industries introduce new intelligent sensor and simulation technologies. Since this technology is generic, it can be applied within diverse engineering fields such as racing cars, battlespace integration, UAV's, road car active safety, energy and emissions and the private space industry.
The focus of Cogisen is for customers to understand as early as possible what the many complexities are of implementing intelligent technology. First of all, a comprehensive analysis will allow management to adjust the course of their product and development strategies. Custom-made prototype designs of products can then be made. By integrating off-the-shelf open-source hardware and open-source software these proof-of-concept designs are now possible for a greatly reduced cost.
(Management Consulting industry)
April 2005 — January 2009 (3 years 10 months)
- Concept design and technology roadmapping as a consultant for engineering products which integrate many disciplines (electronics, aerodynamics, composites, manufacturing, telematics, software, etc)
- Assisting in the development and refinement of an advanced new race car simulator for A1GP.
- Lead engineer for MP Motorsport within Formula Renault 2.0.
(Privately Held; 1001-5000 employees; Automotive industry)
March 2002 — March 2005 (3 years 1 month)
- Technical reference for Vehicle Dynamics at each race, helping to solve set-up issues, handling problems, strategy choices, tire choice, etc
- Directly worked with the renowned Ferrari engineers, designers and managers
- Pushed hard to improve team efficiency: improved quality of telemetry, automated analysis, “virtual garage” for following races from the factory, integrated database package for all data, etc
- Development of new analysis methods and simulations: vehicle health management and prognostics, simulation to optimize damper settings, dynamic braking simulation, etc
- Investigations into the root causes of suspension, tire or component failures
- analysis of vehicle characteristics and problems using a K&C rig, 7-poster rig, single corner portable rigs, R&D stiffness measurements, etc
- Integrated electronics for clutch, differential, traction control, braking, start
