25-year graphic artist, keeping up with current technologies and trends, yet not compromising clarity for the sake of style. Heavy experience in print, but I've now adopted skills for new media and the Web. As comfortable on a drawing board as I am at a computer, I am proficient at Adobe's Creative Suite design software. I have good people skills, and love and seek out client contact. My experience proves to me that with just a little more effort, I can both please the customer and the needs of good design. I have a good command of the language.
Skills: page design, logo design, illustration, type design, photography, calligraphy, motion graphics. Media: outdoor, vehicles, print, Web, video. Software: Excellent in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; proficient in Adobe Flash (animation features), Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Corel Painter X, WordPress, Apple GarageBand; familiar with Apple Final Cut Express, CSS, ActionScript, PHP.

My concentrations are two:
[1] design of rich-media ebooks, made possible through recent upgrades to the PDF specification;
[2] motion graphics for the web, via both vector on the Web (Flash) and pixel for video (After Effects).
The two areas have more in common than you may think.

"A multimedia Web magazine that rediscovers and celebrates New Netherland, the lost Dutch colony of greater New York and the Hudson Valley." I intended this blog to pick up where author Russell Shorto left off in his 2003 book "Island at the Center of the World." Residents of eastern New York and New Jersey should refer to this region as New Netherland as readily as the six states to the northeast refer to New England — and for the same reason, and with the same pride.
Sadly, I had to suspend plans for this. My personal economy (independent from the world economy) required me to pursue more work that would yield immediate cash, namely, graphic design. The site is still up, if you'd like to see it.

l was senior member of a pool of designers that handle the graphic aspects of any and all contacts with readers (or potential readers) of their various products. This has included outdoor advertising, vehicle signage, in-print promotion, Flash animated Web banners, and storyboards for television commercials. In a previous configuration, the shop also handled material for advertising sales, from individual sheets to the master sales kit. I advanced the adoption of Flash, interactive PDFs, use of a Wacom tablet for Photoshop work, overall graphic identity, and systematic file archiving. I was the designated "What's-this-font?" guy.

Vanguard placed me in various businesses in Westchester, NY and Fairfield, CT, ranging from package design houses to advertising agencies. I used the top graphic design applications from Adobe and Quark, invariably on a Mac. I had maybe a 5% to 10% downtime where I was not placed, so I was in demand.
