Rick Stringer’s Summary

A computer expert and martial arts devotee, Rick Stringer keeps the Corbin computers and networks in fighting trim, while developing site architecture and databases for our Web site clients. His graphical expertise comes in handy when designing maps for clients including the cities of Atlanta and Los Angeles, Mission Hospitals in Asheville, North Carolina, and Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Rick began working for Corbin in 1992 as a production artist and illustrator. He was named Technology Director in 1994 and a Vice President in 1999. Before that, he worked as a freelance illustrator in Los Angeles and Chicago and as a production artist in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He majored in theater at Eastern Michigan University and studied illustration at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles, California.

Rick’s work is one of his biggest hobbies—he’s a co-founder of the Traverse Area Macintosh Users Group, known as CherryMUG. He’s also a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

In January 2006 Rick, along with his wife Anne and their friend Matt Wallace, started Variant Frequencies, a monthly podcast of original fiction. Eight months later, the podcast won a Parsec Award for Best Fiction Story (short form).

Rick and his son Neil are both black belts in Taekwon Do. They’re now working towards their black belts in Kuntaw, a Pilipino martial art.
