Richard is one of the most experienced Brand Strategists in Australia.
He acquired his brand expertise working in the ad industry for 17 years, where he has worked on some of the world’s most iconic brands [Cola-Cola, Microsoft, Vodafone, Campbell’s, Nescafe, Levis, Milo, Penfolds] for some of the world’s largest marketers [Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Boots, Goodman Fielder] at some of the world’s biggest ad agencies [Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy & Mather, DDB, McCann-Erickson, George Patts].
In 2003 Richard set up his own brand consultancy, Brand Alchemy, which gave him the opportunity to expand his ‘brand’ area of focus beyond marketing, into all areas of the organization = CEO, Executive Team, Corporate Affairs, HR, Learning & Development, Internal Comms. How do we walk the talk by living and breathing our brand values? How do we use our brand identity to get the best out of our people, and engage them in a sustainable, ongoing way?
Major projects he has worked on have been for Macquarie Bank; BT; AMP; Opportunity International; AAPT; QBE Insurance; Vodafone; and the Liberal Part of New South Wales.
Richard's approach and his message is based on “positive psychology”. Given that the current economic climate and the hysteria of bad news is affecting workers’ morale, his work will leave them with a glass half full attitude and outlook as they take on the challenges in 2009 and beyond.
He published his first “positive psychology” book last year, called Wake Up Tiger. It’s a wake up call for people and workers who are dissatisfied with their lives, often even in the face of their ‘success’.
In addition to his Brand Consulting and Workshop work, Richard does keynote talks on Brand, People and Culture at conferences in Australia and abroad; lectures on Brand and Strategy for the Advertising Federation of Australia; sits on the Board of School Aid Trust [a not-for-profit who’s purpose is ‘kids helping kids’]; and works on his two blogs.
