Richard Marker's Summary

We are independent philanthropy advisors and educators; we help with strategies of your grantmaking. How much money you have or don't have is not relevant - but helping you make wise choices is. And, to clarify something which seems to befuddle people: We do NO fundraising; we only work with those who give money, not those who are hoping to raise it.

R. Marker is a philanthropy advisor and professor with extensive experience working with families, foundations, and philanthropists around the USA and other countries. Author: "Saying 'Yes' Wisely: Insights for the Thoughtful Philanthropist"

Marker is a popular public speaker. He has lectured in 40 States, 39 countries, 5 continents. [Professional member of National Speakers Association/Global Speakers Federation]

In 2002, largely on a pro-bono basis, Marker founded what is known as the NYU Academy for Grantmaking and Funder Education. He continues as one of the faculty in the oldest and most comprehensive university program exclusively for philanthropists and foundation professionals. Since its inception, the Academy has taught many hundreds of funders from 23 countries and throughout the United States. He has also taught and lectured about philanthropy at numerous other universities in the USA and elsewhere..

Specialties: Helping funders with strategies - esp in times of change; partnerships; venture philanthropy; multi-generational philanthropy and succession issues; exit strategies; foundation policy review; foundation retreats and workshops. I also have worked with a number of wealth management groups to help them with philanthropy expertise for their clients. Recently we have added 2 new offerings in response to feedback from past and potential clients: 1. An expedited strategy process for individuals or couples and 2. Short-term interim executive roles during times of foundation transitions.
