May 2001January 2011 (9 years 9 months)

One of several technical architects (in Waltham, MA) responsible for execution of customer engagements to drive sales and adoption of the Microsoft Platform. Primary focus is on revenue opportunities for server-based products such as SQL Server and MOSS, but also includes technology and platform sales. Each technical architect is responsible for maintaining a high level of expertise in various products and technologies. Architects are then responsible for leading strategy briefing, architecture design session, and proof-of-concept engagements to deliver successful customer engagements.

My focus is on the Microsoft Application Platform which put my attentions on developer related products and technologies. Products include Windows Server, Windows Client, SQL Server, IIS, MOSS, BizTalk, HPC Server 2008, Windows Azure and SQL Azure. Technologies include.NET (C# and VB.NET), ASP.NET, WPF, WF, WCF, and Silverlight.

Past experience as a development lead and architect has led me to help customers with performance and scalability demands. This includes architecting solutions that achieve extreme performance and scalability goals in addition to addressing performance issues in existing applications. This experience spans both Internet and Enterprise-based systems and has led me to help customers architect and develop high performance computing systems using the Windows platform.

Lead developer and architect of an Internet-scale application known as the dashBar. I was responsible for overall technical design and review of all dashBar components including the framework and features such as form-fill, savings/transactions, contextual and non-contextual messaging, tracking subsystem, stock ticker, and weather.

Designed and implemented a scalable and functional server design that included an XML over HTTP communication system (similar to SOAP), partitioning of server-based functionality, a generated content system, batching and more. Server implementation used Visual Basic, IIS, ASP, MTS, and SQL Server across 16 web servers in 2 farms. Data collection included a URL tracking table with over a billion rows of data, over 1GB per day, and 270GB online in SQL Server 7.0.

Designed the next generation client-based framework that plugged into Internet Explorer based on Browser Helper Object APIs. The primary goal was to develop a new version that focused on user experience with no loss in functionality. This meant being smart about network communication (i.e. online/offline network detection), disk and memory based caching, and asynchronous and synchronous processing and communication. Client implementation used Visual C++, ATL, and COM.
