I've been programming professionally since college ejected me into the world with only a degree in humanities and a pile of debt. Solving new problems and obsessively polishing solutions to old problems are both a lot of fun for me, and I enjoy having a job where I can do both.

I write code, mostly Perl and some Python. I worked to make our old code more modern and maintainable, to add new features, to improve performance, and to integrate it with third-party systems.

I wrote software to solve various problems, abstract and concrete, and release that software as Free Software to the CPAN. Software I maintain or authored can be seen here: http://search.cpan.org/~RJBS
(Public Company; 51-200 employees; IQEPF; Semiconductors industry)
October 2000 — May 2005 (4 years 8 months)
I work with users to define problems and find solutions. I design software to implement the solution, if needed, and build it. Most of the problems I work with are related to storing information specific to the semiconductor industry, but a lot of it boils down to standard data storage and retrieval programming.
