Freelance Journalist at Morris Communications
Charlotte, North Carolina Area
October 12, 2009
I am a freelance writer and sometimes photographer based in Charlotte, N.C. Currently, I write for several local media outlets on a variety of topics.
Meanwhile, I'm starting to stretch into the national market and have begun work on a non-fiction book with a make-you-laugh title.
It feels good to admit that I'm living my dream.
Best,
Rhi B.

The Mountain Island Weekly was once known as The Mountain Island Monitor. I freelanced for the Monitor from May 2008 until December 2008, after which the paper took a break from using freelancers thanks to a little corporate restructuring.
The paper, purchased by The Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group (http://www.carolinaweeklynewspapers.com/), is under new editorial leadership.
I'll begin freelancing for them again in July 2009.

I’ve got a short-term, part-time contract to do some copy writing, create a little buzz and bust up geek-speak into bite-size chunks that have a little more flavor than’s customary for academia. Not sure where this project will lead, for now I’m just happy to be part of the team.

I write short news stories and aggregate local, national and international news for QCityMetro.com. I used to manage their Twitter account (@Qcitymetro), but now it's automated. I'm happy to have helped them get their social media legs beneath them.
