René Jorissen’s Summary

Every day I do work related to IP networking. IP networking covers a broad range of technologies, like switching, routing, security, mail relaying, proxy servers, IPSec / SSL VPN, IP telephony, anti-virus, anti-spam and so on.

There is no focus on a specific hardware supplier or vendor. I work with many different hardware and software. Some known vendors are Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, HP ProCurve, 3Com, eSafe, Microsoft and more.

I have experience with different kind of platforms and can therefore manage myself in multiplatform environments, including Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Cisco IOS.

Currently I am Cisco CCNP certified and I am trying to get a Cisco CCVP certification. I hope to pass for the CCIE certification one day.

  Working as Connectivity Consultant brings me in contact with all different kind of network related issues. From switching (dot1q, dot1x, STP) to routing (RIP[1|2], (E)IGRP, OSPF, ISIS) and from firewalling (PIX/ASA, NetScreen, Netopia) to Voice over IP. We work independently from the different suppliers and choose the best fitting solution per customer. This means that I work with hardware and software from different vendors, like Cisco, 3Com, HP, Citrix, eSafe.
