The Reginald Cyntje Group became a realization on March 12, 1998 with their first performance at the historic One Step Down. Since that time the group has matured into an ensemble that clearly celebrates a strong Caribbean heritage while maintaining a musical style that is based in the American Jazz tradition.
The group has featured artists like Amiri Baraka, Ron Blake, Bruce Williams, Nasar Abadey, Sean Jones and Rashawn Ross to name a few. Each member of the group combines their experiences of playing with musicians from different genres to form the unique sound of the Reginald Cyntje Group. We explore the Jazz art form and in the process take our listeners on a musical journey. Each concert paints a colorful musical landscape that takes you from drinking your favorite wine at an elegant jazz club to enjoying a daiquiri on a beautiful Caribbean beach.
