REED R. KATHREIN works to protect the rights of individuals and institiutions though legal advocacy in investor, antitrust and consumer class actions. He has represented institutions, pension funds, investors and consumers in class and representative actions against corporations who commit securities or consumer fraud, unfair business practices, or antitrust or environmental violations. Mr. Kathrein is a partner in the class action law firm of Hagens Berman Sobel & Shapiro LLP for whom he opened their San Francisco office in March 2007. Previously he was a partner in Lerach Coughlin Stoia Geller Rudman & Robbins LLP. He opened the San Francisco office of the predecessor firm, Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach LLP, in 1994.

Executive committee of the National Association of Securities and Consumer Law Attorneys (NASCAT) from 1991-2003, and from 1998 to 2003;Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC). In 2004 and 2005 he served as co-chair of the Securities Working Group, tasked by the Chief Justices Marilyn Hall Patel and Vaughn Walker to propose and assist in revising the Court's local rules as they relate to securities fraud class actions.
