I am a registered dietitian (RD) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified Health and Fitness Specialist. I have a private practice in Sports Nutrition and Weight Management for professional, aspiring and everyday athletes. I provide nutrition communications consulting, with an emphasis on "web 2.0" technologies. I created "The Nurture Principles", mantras to inspire wellness.
I have a B.S. in nutrition, B.A. in chemistry, and M.A in communications from Johns Hopkins University. I have seven years experience in non-profit association management and over twelve years experience in the health and wellness field as a trainer, instructor, and manager.
I write a blog called Balanced Health and Nutrition, where I evaluate, explore, and deconstruct the latest food, nutrition and exercise information - with a focus on a balanced approach to news. I the nutrition blogger for Diets In Review, a place to discuss health and current issues in health care. I am a board member and nutrition adviser for Shaping Youth, a California-based online forum about media and marketing's influence on kids.
My passion is in helping people live healthier, happier lives. I aspire to use my knowledge and experiences to reach people on an individual, family, community and national basis through a successful private practice and nutrition communications opportunities with the television, print, and online media. I would love to write a book one day (and I already have winning ideas churning in my head).
If I am not working, I am usually working out. I compete in marathons, triathlons, and ultra marathon trail races. I also do strength training and swimming on a regular basis. Yoga keeps me sane, balanced and flexible.
