In April of 2009, Rebecca Newton joined CrispThinking.com as Head of Safety, where she is a member of the senior management team and is responsible for actively managing all aspects of Crisp® expertise - from best practice policies and management of Crisp® anti-abuse rule sets, to advising clients and assisting in driving product enhancements across the range.
Prior to her role at Crisp, Rebecca lead Community , Content and Customer Service efforts at Mind Candy Inc. as the Director of Community. She also worked at Sulake (Habbo hotels) in various community roles for close to 6 years, with her final position as Director of Community, Sulake HQs.
After 16 years at RTI International in N.C., she began her online career with America Online in 1994, where she was the Program Manager for Recruitment, Orientation and Education for AOL's Community Leader Program.
She has served as a consultant to a broad range of clients, including: Lego, watAgame, The Scottish Parliament, HowStuffWorks.com, RealAge.com, I-Chat.com, The Johns Hopkins University, U Penn, American University, and national Volunteer Administration Organizations in the US.
Rebecca has been published in Teen Magazine, Yahoo! News, Money Magazine, and wrote the foreword for the NSPCC's initiative "Don't Hide It!" in 2007. Ms. Newton speaks regularly on Internet Safety, Web 2.0 and Social Networking, including ENISA's Awareness Conference, London, AGDC, SXSWi, the Regulatory Kids Watch Conference, the NFL.com Business Summit and was a keynote speaker at the Online Child Protection Conference in London, UK , and a presenter at the UK's Southwest Grid for Learning's E-Safety Conferences.
Rebecca is the Secretary and past Deputy-Chair of e-mint.org.uk, an international online community professionals organisation.
