Ran Ren’s Summary

I am currently based in the Seattle area, U.S.A, working for (technically, interning at) a very early stage Hi-Tech startup called Voicelever(www.voicelever.com). It's hard to describe what I do with single established position title, which is typical for people working for startups - they just wear multiple hats. The entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to response to constantly changing market needs are, I believe, of fundamental importance to my overall career success.

Before working for Voicelever, I was a Research Assistant in State Univ. of NY at Binghamton, doing research on RF emitter location estimation topics using statistical models. We developed several innovative stochastic algorithms and verified their novelty by implementing and analyzing them using Matlab, C/C++, Java.

During my college time, I wrote code for several outsourcing projects. As an example, I implemented a web crawler using Java for a Stanford University student project which crawls academic publication information from IEEE and ACM digital databases. I was also among the youngest group of people in China to acquire some professional certificates such as MCSE, MCDBA and SCJP (that was a long time a ago of course.)

Besides my professional duties and work, I am also the the founder and Editor-in-Chief of a youth-led and youth-oriented international development publication, called the Horizon. By inviting youth visionaries and doers to share their ideas and stories on how a better world can be built, we aim at establishing a platform for info sharing and interaction among youth around the World. We cooperate with international institutions such as the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union. I spoke in multiple forums and conferences as moderator and panelist.

Professional career goal is to become a business leader pursing career across the Pacific, and a semi-professional photographer, and probably a drummer(at some point.)

Ran Ren’s Specialties:
