After a period of freelance teaching calligraphy and graphic design basics , I was the primary teacher when building up a brand new department for graphic design and graphic art. The combination of free expression (here: drawing, sketching, woodcut, drypoint and etching techniques) and more commercial disciplines (layout, photography, typography, graphic design - and introduction to the computer applications of graphic design: Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Illustrator) was always a key point for me during these few hectic years, and the education we offered was quite unique for this kind of teachers' college. I still think that it is very important for a designer or an artist to have a feeling for both "sides" of the graphic language.
