My degree project was about periodontal ligament micro and macromechanics. I modeled a tooth and performed a FEM analysis with HKS Abaqus. The study was named "Analisi della funzionalità meccanica del legamento parodontale: modello numerico" that sounds "Analysis of periodontal ligament mechanics: numerical model" in english. With such a model I was able to simulate orthodontic loads responses calculating stress and strain maps for each load. The results were compared with international studies data showing impressive likeness.
