Hotchkiss Founded BigCharts Inc. (1994). He served as its Chairman and CEO from inception through the company’s sale to CBS MarketWatch.com Inc. (NASDAQ NM: MKTW)
BigCharts® designed, developed, licensed and served real-time web-based financial tools and content to the world's leading online brokerage and financial media companies including Charles Schwab & Co., Fidelity, Ameritrade, E*TRADE, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Dow Jones, CNN, The New York Times and Business Week.
Through a recurring revenue business model and a B2B2C distribution strategy, the company achieved sustained profitability and became the standard in interactive financial charting used by tens of millions of online investors worldwide.
After the acquisition, Hotchkiss served as the president of CBS MarketWatch.com, Inc. and as a member of it's board of directors. MarketWatch.com was a 'top fifty' destination site later acquired by Dow Jones, Inc. for $550 million.
After taking a personal sabbatical, Hotchkiss embarked on his second startup as Talkingpoint Inc.’s CEO and was a member of its board of directors (2003-2006). Talkingpoint provided an interactive point-of-experience customer feedback and loyalty marketing application to consumer-driven companies including Best Buy, SuperValu, Dairy Queen, Target, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nissan.
Hotchkiss graduated with honors from Gustavus Adolphus College (1991) and earned a Certificate in Legal Studies from the University of Durham in Durham, England (1990).
