Nonprofit Technology Strategist and Leader
San Francisco Bay Area
I have been managing technology for over twenty years, moving up from database management to system administration to Director/VP for the last ten years. I serve primarily in the non-profit, social enterprise communities where I can take my overall knowledge of office technology and donor management, combine it with my expertise in Retail tech, E-Commerce and CRM, and offer a well-rounded set of services to meaningful organizations. I'm particularly suited for and interested in helping non-profits build up businesses to supplement their donor-based funding.
Key Accomplishments:
- Completely overhauled retail technology for an 18 Store operation, implementing new Point of Sale and inventory management systems. Suggested new retail strategies based on data analysis that led to 10% year over year improvement in revenues despite reduction in number of stores and inventory sources.
- Developed a custom, web-based reporting tool, using a SQL backend to facilitate distribution of data and data warehousing/mining.
- Introduced E-Commerce as a sales channel. Wrote and implemented (almost to the letter) a business plan with a 18 month breakeven.
- Raised the technical acumen of a 250 person law firm by providing key technologies like Web access and online CD research before the Attorneys knew that they were needed; Introduced databases, presentations, imaging and extranets as standard business tools.

Originally formed as the legal arm of the Sierra Club, they now represent numerous individuals and organizations in actions protecting natural resources and wildlife, and leading efforts to stop global warming and other threats to life on earth.
As IT Director, I lead manage the IT Staff and set the strategic direction for technology initiatives in support of the mission. These include deploying a global infrastructure that will seamlessly connect the firms eight offices, which stretch from Honolulu to Tallahassee; supporting the litigation practice, fund development efforts, and communications strategies; and, in particular, enhancing the infrastructure to support shared knowledge and improved communication across all divisions.
