Peter Pilgrim’s Summary
Peter Pilgrim is professional software developer, designer and architect. For the last decade he has worked in the financial services industry, investment banking mainly, developing Information Technology for clients. Peter is a currently Technical Lead for the E-Channel Services Team at Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets in the City of London
Before LTSB Peter contracted for clients in the City of London and the Docklands. He developed professional software for prestigious clients that include UBS Investment Bank and Credit Suisse Group.
He is well known specialist in Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) technology, focused on the server-side and the implementation of electronic commerce. He delivered production worthy code, designed, documented, analysed software and supported agile software development.
Peter is currently studying scripting languages like Groovy and JavaFX. He is also a SCEA 5 (Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java EE 5 platform).
In May 2004, Peter Pilgrim founded what would eventually become the JAVAWUG, Java Web User Group. The JAVAWUG is the biggest independent Java User Group in London. He is currently the JUG leader and has an outstanding team of willing "Lieutenants" that helped accelerate the growth of the group.
In February 2007, Peter was invited to join the group of 100 of world-wide Sun Java Champions in 2007. The Champions are a "sounding board" of external innovators, academics, community leaders and representatives, who communicate with Sun Microsystems USA (Yahoo!Stock ticker "JAVA" / CEO Jonathan Schwartz).
Peter writes a regular series of articles for ACCU UK. He writes a well respected, smart blog and he involves himself in the wider social community. He has presented at ACCU Conference, Sun's Community One in San Francisco and in Belgium for JavaPolis 2007.
