February 2007 — September 2008 (1 year 8 months)
Built a Web-based interface through which educators can share teaching ideas based upon classic films. You can view a demo of it here: www.supraset.com/fiif/. Although Find it in Film has worked largely within education, its broader mission concerns the real-world impacts of visual media. This meant--and continues to mean--advocating media literacy in various forums, presenting workshops to teachers, and directly providing enrichment courses to students that deepen their understanding of pop culture and media messages--to "arm" them with ideas. But it also means helping nonprofits (such as NCTE) run or establish film festivals that bring powerful movies to new audiences. Due to the huge increase in demand for our consulting and development services, we decided to fold FiiF into Skyline, which will be renamed Skyline Media Solutions, with a dedicated Web site launched in the summer of 2009.
